Roller coasters

"Other people have done this and survived. Other people have done this and survived. Other people have done this and survived." I repeated this over and over again as I brought the safety bar down, knowing there wasn't any turning back now. I was committed to riding one of the largest wooden roller coasters! And...I did it...and I survived, just like many others had done.

Those who had gone before me gave me the encouragement that I needed in that moment. I still remember a question we were asked in la escuela dominical, "Qué símbolo tienes para la vida?" Someone answered la montaña rusa, a roller coaster, with all its ups and downs.

There is a lot of negativity around turning 30, especially for people like me, still single and wanting and waiting for some things to happen in life. But it's coming! I'll be 30 in less than two months, and I'm hopeful that it's not going to be that bad. Other single girls have turned the 3-0 and survived!
