Prayer, Proximity, and Peace
In The Ragamuffin Gospel, Brennan Manning writes, "In essence, there is only one thing God asks of us--that we be men and women of prayer, people who live close to God, people for whom God is everything and for whom God is enough. That is the root of peace. We have that peace when the gracious God is all we seek. When we start seeking something besides Him, we lose it" (46).
Lord, I desire this closeness and intimacy with You. May I seek only You, and may Your peace be deeply rooted in the depths of my heart. You alone are more than enough for me. Please be my everything. Please draw me deeper into communion with You through prayer. Paul reminds us to pray without ceasing, but all too often my thankfulness and requests are centered around myself. What are you doing, Lord, and how can I be a part of it?
