Psalm 13
- v 1. honest, raw, questioning, seeing God as Lord
- v 2. more questions- how much longer?
- v 3. somewhat of a command, further acknowledging God as Lord, asking for light (hope?)
- v 4. despite the response of others (words and actions)
- v 5. BUT (transition) David has trusted in God's love (looks back), he will rejoice in God's salvation (looks forward)
- v 6. he will sing to the Lord (future) why? because he remembers how God has already provided for him (looks back)
From Nate Hale:
How long, O Lord, will You forget me forever?
How long, O Lord, will You hide your face from me?
Long enough, long enough, have I carried this load of sorrow.
Long enough, long enough, have I lived with this heart full of pain.
I want to look life in the eye.
I'm tired of falling down on my face.
I'm throwing myself into Your loving arms
And now it's time to celebrate
Your rescue...
So, I will sing at the top of my lungs.
Yes, I will sing of Your unfailing love.
For You have delivered me
From the worst of my enemies.
So, I will sing to the Lord
For He has been good to me.
From Shane and Shane:
How long oh Lord will You forget me
How long oh Lord will You hide
Hide Your face from me
How long must I wrestle with me
And everyday have sorrow in my heart
Sorrow in my heart
I will wait on You
I will wait on You
I will wait on You
Look on me Lord and answer me
Give my eyes light or I will sleep in death
I will sleep in death
My enemies say "I will overcome him"
And my foes rejoice even when I fall
I don't want to fall
For I will trust in Your unfailing love
My heart rejoices in Your salvation
I will sing to the Lord
Lord, let David's words be my words. Thank you for those who have put music to these words, as music has a way of penetrating my heart. I will wait on You. I will wait on You. I will wait on You. For I will trust in Your unfailing love. My heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord. Lord, help these words truly become truth for me. I believe them to be true. Help my doubting and lack of faith.
