Phil 1
v. 3 "I thank my God every time I remember you"
Paul took time to remember his friends and fellow partners in the gospel. He clearly loved them and remembered them fondly. He held them in his heart regardless of where he was.
Who have been fellow partners in the gospel with me?
v. 6 "he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"
I am still unfinished. There is still work to be done in me. God has already started something good in me, and I can trust Him that he wants to and is going to finish the good that He has started.
v. 9-10 "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness"
Paul desired this for those dear to him, laboring with him for the sake of Christ. Oh how I desire this for myself! Lord, I want this to be true of me. I want love that abounds. I want knowledge and depth of insight. Why? So that I can discern what is best, not just what is good. So that I can be pure and blameless during this waiting time until the second advent occurs.
Lord, I am so grateful that I know You. Thank You for the many people who are close to my heart, because we have labored together in Your Name, to share Your good news and love. Thank You that You have started a good work in me and desire to see it to completion. I ask that You give me more and more of Your true, beautiful, genuine love. May this love and acceptance sink to the depths of my heart and remind me who You say I am. Help me remember, Lord, because I easily forget. Help me have knowledge, insight, and discernment so that I may walk according to Your ways.
